What Medical Assistants Do
As a medical assistant, your daily tasks may include:
- Interviewing patients and recording their medical history and information, including vital signs and test results
- Measuring vital signs, including blood pressure and weight
- Helping physicians with patient examinations and administering injections and medications as directed
- Collecting and preparing samples of blood and other laboratory specimens
- Scheduling patient appointments, sending follow-up reminders, and maintaining medical and office supply inventory

Summit’s Medical Assistant – Administrative & Clinical program is designed to teach students the essentials and core skills they’ll be using in the real world. You’ll not only learn clinical skills, such as recording patient vital signs; you’ll also be learning how to record patient histories, manage patient intake, appointment scheduling, and insurance claim processing.
And because we believe students learn better in the right environment, the program features small classes and hands-on training from instructors with real-world experience. All taking place in a facility with free tutoring, flexible schedules and a Career Services Department ready to set you up to succeed!
