Financial Aid Officer / Registrar

New El Cajon branch campus looking for the right individual to hit the ground running with dual proprietary experience in Financial Aid and Registrar duties.

The Financial Aid Officer will provide ongoing service to current and returning students to assist students in securing adequate funding to cover their costs, respond to complex questions regarding their financial aid eligibility, and ensure Institutional compliance with internal policies and governing agency regulations. Registrar duties will include maintaining student files. Responsible for the overall coordination, tracking and maintenance of all student records, documentation and reporting for both administrative and academic purposes. Custodian of standardized documents to describe changes to status, or any changes to expected performance in academic or attendance standards.  To provide a foundation of resources and support for students in order to facilitate retention and ensure student success and achievement.

Specific responsibilities

Work cohesively with Campus Manager and Admissions Advisors in order to facilitate outstanding service to prospective students and their parents.

Interview aid applicants, able to develop student Financial Plans in concert with Summit College procedures and knowledge of Federal regulations. Able to explain the FA Plan to the student’s/parent’s. Negotiate payment plans.

Assist students/parents with the completion of the FAFSA, review the resulting ISIR, and assign the appropriate budget to a student and package the student (award their aid) as well as ensure that aid is paid to students’ accounts in a timely manner.

Responsible for complete and accurate files and paperwork, complete quality assurance and C Code Requirements.

Performs data entry and file maintenance in Transcript along with the State Guarantee Agency and NSLDS borrower data management systems.

Performs verification and correction of financial aid application data.

Strong knowledge in the following software systems: EdExpress and Microsoft Office

Ensures compliance with all state, accrediting and federal financial aid related regulations. Promptly and accurately reports any suspected instances of non-compliance to immediate supervisor (s) and/or higher levels within the organization, as is needed to address and resolve any areas of non-compliance.

Successfully prepares for and executes various audits with outside compliance organizations.

Counsels students on academic planning and provides community resource assistance

for housing, transportation, child care and utility subsidies.

Collaborates with Administrative personnel and Dean of Academics and Campus Manager on attendance, academic and conduct issues with the goal of lower attrition rates.

Perform New Student Orientations.

Construct and analyze data reports for administrative planning.

Design and publish campus newsletter.

Implements review process of all grades

and attendance to ensure compliance to state and federal agencies.

Collects student satisfaction survey data to assemble quantitative and

qualitative response for a continuous college improvement plan.

Generates all transcripts and diplomas.

Administration and recognition of the incentives and awards for students.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree preferred but not requires.

2 or more years of previous experience working with and technical knowledge of student financial aid programs.

Knowledge of Federal, State, or commercial loan packages.
