The conditioned air comes out through vents. Insulation is another important part of the equation, as it helps heating and cooling function as efficiently as possible.
Materials used
You need to be familiar with the materials used in HVAC ductwork. This includes refrigerant. Refrigerant is a toxic material that requires training to handle. HVAC technicians who work with refrigerant are required to achieve certification from the EPA.
Insulation is another material that is used, in addition to large amounts of metal that make up the ducts.
Maintenance
Maintaining HVAC duct systems requires the understanding of the system as a whole, which you will have grasped prior to learning it in a training program. It goes a step beyond installation, as you must use your critical thinking skills to find out what is wrong and fix it. The answer might not always be obvious. Maintenance is also used to make sure ducts are clean.
