Licensed Vocational Nurse Objectives:

At Summit, our goal is to offer students the individual attention, knowledge and skills to help them be successful in the nursing profession. This is accomplished through providing a high quality training program in modern classrooms, skills labs, and a variety of clinical experiences. Partnered with a knowledgeable team of instructors, students will receive the constant support in achieving their goal of becoming a Licensed Vocational Nurse. This program is offered in a full-time and evening/weekend schedule to accommodate the working adult.

As a Licensed Vocational Nurse, you will have the skills and training to work hand-in-hand with physicians and registered nurses and be responsible for a number of care related and administrative tasks. After licensure you will be qualified to work in the following facilities:

What Will I Do?

There are countless ways that you’ll contribute to any healthcare setting.

Some of your duties may include:

  • Measuring and recording patients’ heart rate, blood pressure and other vital signs
  • Preparing patients for exams or procedures
  • Assisting physicians and registered nurses with tests and procedures
  • Performing routine laboratory tests
  • Supervising nursing assistants and aides
  • Updating patient medical records
